Sheffield has so much to offer students. Not only is it home to an array of world-class universities, but the city has a bustling social scene, brilliant bars and restaurants, and even the Peak District National Park for more outdoorsy types.
When you live in Sheffield for any length of time, you’ll quickly grow to love it, and you’ll soon realise that it doesn’t disappoint. No matter your budget or your interests, there’s always something in the calendar, especially when it comes to summertime.
Looking to schedule in some sun-hazed seasonal fun? Then here are the events you need to check out.
Does music make your world go 'round? Then Sheffield’s biggest and best-beloved party will be right up your street. Running from the 19th July to the 21st, this three-day long festival extravaganza is located right in the heart of the countryside, offering plenty of muddy, music-fuelled fun to those who attend. Its line up for 2019 is one of its best to date, with everyone from Annie Mac to The Doves, Lewis Capaldi, and Rag ‘N’ Bone Man featuring. What’s more, prices are completely student-friendly, with three-day tickets available for just £85.
Tramlines is not the only big event to look forward to this summer. Music in the Garden is scheduled for the 5th to the 7th July, and it promises to be immensely enjoyable. It might have started out small, but this live music spectacular is now in its 15th year, and it manages to outdo itself each and every time. Offering attendees four evenings of symphonic entertainments to soak up, it gives you the opportunity to witness world-renowned artists at an affordable price. Bring along a blanket and some friends, sip on a pint of ale from the nearby Bradfield Brewery, and experience the ultimate laidback evening out.
More of an enthusiastic nerd than a cool-as-cucumber festival goer? Then Sheffield Film and Comic Con might be your cup of tea. Now in its sixth year, it will take over FlyDSA Arena come the 10th and 11th August, offering attendees a weekend of unparalleled fun. Cosplay is encouraged, comics are everywhere, and the creators of your favourite content might just make an appearance. Although the official guest list hasn’t yet been announced, it promises to be good, and there’ll be plenty of free guest talks available for those who attend.
